How to Clean the Warming Pads
The warming pads can be cleaned using a germicidal or antiseptic soap with warm water.
It is recommended that you use a surgical sheet or some other layer between the pad and the animal. This helps to maintain a sterile environment (if necessary) and also aids in the clean-up after the procedure. Because the pads use far infrared heat, there is no concern about the additional layer inhibiting the animal from being warmed properly.

About Far Infrared Warming
One of the key components of the Far Infrared Warming Pad is the use of FIRst™ Technology (Far Infrared Stasis Technology). FIR (far infrared) light allows researchers to safely warm animals for a longer period of time without unknowingly overheating the animal. FIR waves resonate with organic matter and penetrate deep into the body, thus FIR light warms the body without warming the air between the FIR source and the body. As cells deep within the body absorb the FIR light, the energy level of water in those cells is gently increased through "resonant absorption" safely raising core body temperature.
The body can absorb as much as 90% of FIR heat, compared to only 20% with conventional warming pads. Studies have shown that FIR can maintain therapeutic temperatures longer than conventional heating methods and less warming is required with FIR than with conventional techniques.
