Think you’re the fastest in the lab? Prove it at AALAS 2026. The Kent Scientific Mouse Intubation Contest
Steady hands. Sharp technique. A little competitive spirit. Think you can intubate a mouse faster than your colleagues? We’re putting your skills to the test at AALAS 2026 in Houston. Intubate our simulated mouse as quickly as possible, without damaging the model, for a chance to win $500 worth of Kent Scientific training.
Prize: $500 in Kent training credit. No live animals. Just your technique against the clock.
Contest dates:
October 26 & Tuesday, October 27, 2026
9 AM - 5 PM | Booth #1640
The Contest
How fast can you do it right?
Intubation takes practice, patience, and precision. Anyone who has performed the procedure knows that a few seconds can feel considerably longer when you’re working with something the size of a mouse.
At AALAS, we’re giving researchers and laboratory animal professionals a chance to put those skills to the test.
The contest is simple:
Successfully intubate a simulated mouse in the shortest time possible, using proper technique and without damaging the model.
We’ll have the equipment and simulated animal ready. You bring your skills, and maybe a little confidence.
How it Works
1. Sign up
Reserve a competition spot using the form here, or visit Kent Scientific at Booth #1640 during a scheduled competition session.
2. Join the contest
You’ll receive a brief orientation to the equipment and contest rules.
When the timer starts, perform the intubation as quickly and accurately as possible.
3. Get your results
A Kent team member will verify successful intubation and assess the technique according to the contest criteria.
4. Win $500 in training
The winner will receive $500 worth of Kent Scientific training.
Whether you’re refining existing skills or learning to get more from your equipment, it’s an opportunity to invest in your team’s capabilities.
The participant with the fastest qualifying time across both competition days will be declared the winner. Kent Scientific personnel will verify successful intubation, proper technique, and that the simulation model was not damaged.
The Prize
$500 in Kent training credit.
Good technique deserves recognition. And continuing to develop that technique benefits the entire research team.
